Simple Systems Stop Insanity!

All right, here’s what I want to talk to you about. Look, what’s the problem? The problem is insanity. Oh my God, I can remember going back probably fifteen years ago. You know when you’re always telling the guy, like, “Lock the truck, empty the garbage, shut the lights off, pull the jobs.” I mean, insanity, insanity, I was dealing with it over and over again; all these stupid little things that people kept doing. Then guess what? You tell them what to do, and then they leave, and you forget to tell the new people, and they repeat it again.

Probably not you. Probably not you at all. Just my business, right? Only for me, but I solved it. I solved it. What I did was I created systems.

Now look, so many people read this E-Myth, and they did nothing with it. Right? Most read book, and I’m like, “What did you do with it?” And they’re like, “Well I did nothing with it.” So I want to just tell you how to do a simple system. We call them, here, gold medal systems, GMSs.

Okay, so way to solve a problem.

Step one: Identify what is the problem, the thing that keeps coming up over, over, over again; that if you could just solve this one thing and get everybody on the same page … My God! You would just sleep smiling tonight. Right? That’s the first step, identify the repeated problems.

Step two: How do you want it done? Now I’m talking … This takes fifteen minutes to do. Maybe not even fifteen minutes, because I’m going to show you how to do it quick as possible.

Now, identify the problem, identify how I want to do.

Now a lot of times when you’re driving, you’re doing bullshit talk … You know? Wasting time. You listen to music, you’re like, “La-la-la. Thunderstruck.” Right? That’s good sometimes, but sometimes you could be changing the game while you’re driving.

I have a simple app where you can record on your phone, so I’m just like, “You know what? Let me think of the problem while I’m driving.” I’m like, “Okay, I got it. This is what happens in my warehouse, this is what happens with material delivering.” I’m like, “Cool, let me push ‘record’,” and I’m like, “Okay, GMS system, make sure every night these twenty things are done,” and I start spelling out the twenty things.

Then I just take it from there, and I go, “Okay, good.” Boom! I send it to a virtual assistant who, for about three dollars, types this whole thing up into a system, emails it back to me, I check it … I don’t even have to do the edits myself, I can highlight it and say, “Edit it.” System done!

Now what do I do? How do I fix it? Well I don’t want to wait. I don’t want to spend the money to get everybody in the shop, and we’re working a million hours, so guess what I do? Put on the recorder, say: “Hey, everybody. I emailed you a brand new GMS system. I want to let you know the problem first. Here’s what’s been happening. I want to let you know what this problem causes.”

Here’s what happens today. People implement things into the company, but they don’t share the, “why,” so employees don’t get it. They’re like, “This is stupid and dumb,” because they don’t get it because you didn’t tell them the, “why.”

I say, “Look. Here’s the problem, here’s what the problem causes, here’s the solution, here’s the solution in writing, and I’m doing the video so you hear it from me.” Once the video’s done, I have the video forever. I put it in a file. Every new person that comes to the company, every new person that, that system applies to, I go to the video library, they watch all the videos. Problem solved.

Now look. This video alone, this episode of “Warrior TV” alone, should save you a ton of money, and make you a ton of money because it removes insanity. I didn’t know how to do this. It cost me, probably, over twenty-five-thousand dollars to not only finally solve it, learn it from experts … And it wasn’t one expert, it was like five experts that had to grab all the information.

It sounds simple, right? But it took me five experts and over twenty-five-thousand to grab the information and go, “Got it.” Now we have it, and we have the GMS Systems book.

The book, when somebody falls off … Because guess what, will people forget? Yes, they forget, so guess what I do now? We just remind them, “Hey, I need you to read this and sign off, I need you to watch the video and keep track.” Then we run through our four steps at this point.

Does that make sense? That’s the way.

Now don’t confuse this with a process. This video’s not about a process. A process is something that affects multiple lanes. Right? So a process is, maybe, paperwork that goes through Accounting and Dispatch and Customer Service and maybe HR. That’s a process: many lanes, many people, many things.

I’m talking one page, simple system, stop insanity.
