Make Sure You Have All the Strategy Pieces

Hey. Mike Agugliaro, CEO Warrior bringing you another episode of, what, CEO Warrior T.V. I’m just bringing you stuff that you can make, take massive action on, and get massive results. I want to tell you a story. You know, eleven years ago when I started to grow, I was visiting a lot of companies that were bigger than me, right? They were being nice. They’re like, “Come and see.” Well, here’s the problem. They weren’t giving me the whole story, the whole strategy, not because they wanted to do something wrong to me. They just didn’t … They were really busy, so they don’t want to hurt my feelings and say, “Don’t come and hang out,” but they didn’t have all the time to share everything.

Here’s what I want to tell you. With the information that you see today, you can’t just take it and apply it. Look, business owners do this all the time like, “Oh, I’ve seen this guy’s newspaper thing. I’ve seen this thing,” and they’re applying it. I’m like, “Look. You don’t know the back story.” First off, what’s the problem they’re solving?

Second, what made them make a decision. Third, how do we even know that it’s working. It’s like when people do this they’re like, “Oh, I’m going to do a $69 tune up.” I’m like, “Why?” “So-and-so’s doing a $79 and a $49.” I’m like, “I don’t even know. Does that even make sense? I don’t even know if it makes sense for you. You don’t even know the back story. You don’t know the history. You don’t know if it works for that company. You don’t even know the results from it.”

Not having the whole information on a strategy is so dangerous today. It happened to me. We did Ace Duraflow, was this product back then. We didn’t have the whole strategy. We didn’t ask the right questions. A hundred and some thousands later it was a bust. It was a total bust in New Jersey. It was a big lesson for me. It was like $100,000 seminar I went to, right, to learn what not to do. A lot of people when they have these problems, they don’t know to go and ask themselves a question.

I’m learning to get really good when I get messed up with a hundred grand of a bad decision, to say to myself, “Hang on a minute here. Okay. What happened? What question didn’t I ask? What didn’t I do?” At the end of the day, I did something wrong to end up in that position. True or true? I mean, come on. You got to take blame for it to even start to grow and change, so I’d ask, “What the hell did I did that didn’t make sense? What should I never do again?” I learned that I didn’t have a decision-making criteria. Video is not about a decision-making criteria, but I want you to think, if you don’t have a strategic outline, asking six or seven questions to make sure that you’re making the best decision, then guess what? You might be implementing strategies without knowing everything.

I see it every day. I see people wrapping their trucks. They don’t really know why. They just think because other people do it. They see people buying tablets. They don’t really know why, so they’re doing it. They’re like, “Oh, I want to be paperless.” Yeah. I don’t know if that’s good or bad for you. I don’t even know if it’s the right timing for you. Do not just do strategies without knowing the back story. I hope that makes sense.
